kara.dahl@asa.k12.mn.us

Hi, everyone! My name is Kara Dahl and I am very excited to begin an adventure in learning with students of Art and Science Academy. I look forward to meeting and getting to know the children. They are our future and it is my hope to have a positive impact on their educational experience.

I have a background in administrative and human resources positions, but upon taking employment as a special education support professional in 2006, I realized my love of the learning environment and working with students. I spent five years in that position. More recently, I have taught second and third grade, summer school, grades 3-5 after school Academic Stretch, grades K-2 intervention math, and tutored several hours a week.

I was a quiet, shy student, and I pride myself on my ability to build confidence in and draw out children who are on the timid side. I also plan my instruction with differentiation in mind, with the goal of each student being challenged at the appropriate level. My classroom is a place of exploration, learning, and respect, where all students have the opportunity to delve into their interests while sharing responsibility for helping our days run smoothly.

I live in Oak Grove with my husband and three teenagers. I enjoy being a soccer mom, and when I have free time I love to read, hang out with my kids, cook, and visit our family cabin in Alexandria. This is an exciting time for our new school, and I’m proud to be a part of it!
